Birds fly with wings but we fly with our dreams. Accomplishing all our dreams in a lifetime is tough but not impossible. Proves Dennis Tito, first private tourist to space. 17 years ago today, an American engineer and multimillionaire Dennis Tito became the luckiest man on earth who could own his trip to space.

He spent nearly 8 days in the orbit as a crew member of the mission launched by the spacecraft Soyuz TM-32. He is said to have paid $20m (approx. ₹ 1.33 billion) for his eight days in space.

At the age of 61, when people start thinking about retirement Dennis Tito thought of converting his space dream into reality. He was not a layman for space.

“For me, it was like being in heaven — it was like being in a second life.”

A space enthusiast since teenage, he was an engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. As an adult, he spent years as a rocket scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, planning spacecraft missions to Mars and Venus.

Tito is now 78 and aims at Mars. All the best Dennis Tito !!!
