Happy women’s day is just a tag, actually it has nothing to do with happiness of women. We all know the fact that sharing happy women’s day messages are not going to change anything. But it was meant to do so.
nternational Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.
The first International Women’s Day occurred on March 19 in 1911. The March 19 date was chosen because it commemorated the day that the Prussian king promised to introduce votes for women in 1848. Later the date was moved to March 8 in 1913.
According to the UN, nowhere in the world can women claim to have all the same rights and opportunities as men. The majority of the world’s 1.3 billion absolute poor are women. On average, women receive between 30 and 40 percent less pay than men earn for the same work. Women also continue to be victims of violence, with rape and domestic violence listed as significant causes of disability and death among women worldwide.
Although Iceland has broken the ice recently. It is the first country to make equal pay for equal work mandatory, for both public and private firms. The new law makes sure that every company with 25 or more staff to obtain a certificate demonstrating that they pay all employees equally “regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or nationality.”

महिलाओं को समर्पित एक दिन… 8 मार्च। हर साल इस दिन सोशल मीडिया पर महिलाओं के लिए अच्छे-अच्छे संदेश दिए जाते हैं। व्हाट्स एप पर एक दूसरे को महिलाओं के सम्मान के मेसेज भेजते हैं। और कई वेबसाइट्स पर महिलाओं के साथ हो रहे अच्याचार और दुर्व्यवहार के आंकड़े दिखाकर समाज को आईना भी दिखाया जाता है। लेकिन इन सब से परे, इस दिन का मतलब तो कुछ और ही है।
दरअसल, महिलाओं के नाम एक दिन समर्पित करने का मतलब था उन्हें मर्दों के बराबर हक देना। कपड़े पहनने या घर के काम करने में बराबरी नहीं, बल्कि एक बराबर श्रम के बदले मर्दों को मिलने वाली तनख्वाह और औरतों को मिलने वाली तनख्वाह में कोई फर्क नहीं हो। बराबरी का मतलब आर्थिक रूप से महिलाओं को स्वतंत्र बनाना है। उनकी किसी भी कोशिश को कमतर नहीं आंकना, उन्हें हर तरह से बराबरी के अधिकार देना, और बराबरी के मौके भी।
ऐसा करने वाला पहला देश है आइसलैण्ड। वहाँ महिलाओं और पुरुषों को बराबरी के काम के लिए बराबर सैलेरी दी जाती है। बस हर देश, हर शहर, हर नुक्कड़ पर लोगों को यही समझने की ज़रूरत है। बराबरी का संदेश साझा नहीं करे, बराबरी का जज़्बा और उम्मीद साझा करें।
