All tea shops, to salons, rickshaws and everywhere you come across, you would automatically get to know the latest scores because of the radio. It is equally favourite of the rich and the poor. The old melodies and the brilliant RJs make the medium even more interesting. Do you know why we are discussing the fete of radio today ? Because for the world, it all began today.
Today in 1893, Radio was brought in front of the world for the first time. This charisma was done by one of the least known inventor of his times. The world took time to understand his works, but with time he made his point clear and world opened arms for him.

Nikola Tesla gave the first public demonstration of radio in St Louis on March 1, 1893, although he had presented his work prior to this behind closed doors.
Tesla had first demonstrated wireless transmissions during his high frequency and potential lecture of 1891. Just days before the St Louis presentation, Tesla addressed the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, on February 23, 1893, describing in detail the principles of early radio communication.
As early as 1892, Nikola Tesla created a basic design for radio.
On November 8, 1898 he patented a radio controlled robot-boat.
On January 13, 1910, first public radio broadcast was transmitted live.
On December 19, 1958, first radio broadcast was transmitted from space.

रेडियो सुनने का आनंद हम सभी ने उठाया होगा। सैलून में बाल कटाते हुए रेडियो सुनना, रिक्शा की सवारी करते हुए रेडियो सुनना, और तो और सड़क पर चलते हुए लगभग हर चाय की दुकान पर एक रेडियो बज रहा होता था… मानो सार्वजनिक मनोरंजन के लिए चलाकर छोड़ा गया हो। रेडियो सुनने वालों को वो सुनहरा दौर याद होगा। इंटरनेट और मडिया के बदलते समीकरण के बीच रेडियो कहीं पीछे छूट गया है। फिर भी आज रेडियो को याद करने का दिन है… क्योंकि आज ही पहली बार रोडियो को सार्वजनिक तौर पर सुना गया था। निकोला वायरलेस ट्रांसमिशन की बात तो काफी पहले से अपने लेक्चर में कहते रहते थे… और दुनिया को ये सुविधा मुहैया कराने की कोशिश भी किया करते थे। उनकी कोशिशें 1893 में रंग लाईं… दुनिया ने जाना कि निकोला टेस्ला ने बंद कमरे में रेडियो जैसे माध्यम का इजात किया। रेडियो बनाने का श्रेय Guglielmo Marconi को जाता है लेकिन उसे दुनिया के सामने सबसे पहले टेस्ला ने ही रखा। इस माध्यम को हम तक पहुंचाने के लिए टेस्ला का शुक्रिया ।
