Roller coasters were patented today in 1885, that were made of wood. Father of roller coaster rides or father of gravity rides, American inventor LaMarcus Adna Thompson, bought this to the world in 1884, almost 6 months before he got the patent. It was in Coney island in Brooklyn, New York. Known as a switchback railway, it traveled approximately six miles per hour and cost a nickel to ride.

A group of guys went on 74 roller coasters in 24 hours
They broke the world record. In a single day, Philip A. Guarno, Adam Spivak, John R. Kirkwood and Aaron Monroe Rye went to 10 parks in four U.S. states, traveling by helicopter between them. They did it to raise $40,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.
You’re more likely to die tumbling off your bed than get seriously hurt on a roller coaster
According to the National Safety Council, you’ve got a 1 in 24 million chance of getting seriously injured on an amusement park ride. You have a greater shot of dying by falling out of bed in the morning (a 1 in 423,548 chance).

Per ride cost was 5 cents and Thompson grossed an average of $600 / day which means approximately Rs. 40,000.
Roller coaster concept is older than this :
Roller coasters started off as ice slides in Russia more than 500 years ago. They were long, steep wooden slides covered in ice. Riders walked up a ladder to the top of the slide, as high as 70 ft up.

The new means of entertainment was an instant success and continues till today. People go mad and shout their heart out of fear, still take these roller coaster rides.

Roller coaster rides… हम सभी ने कभी न कभी इसके मज़े लिए होंगे ? फिर चाहे डर के या फिर शौक से। आप जानते हैं इन राइड्स यानी झूलों की शुरुआत 1885 में हुई थी। अमेरिकी आविष्कारक LaMarcus Adna Thompson ने ये झूले करीब 6 महीने पहले तैयार किए थे और आज के दिन 1885 में इनका पेटेंट कराया गया था। ये सारे झूले उस समय लकड़ी के बने हुए थे। न्यू यॉर्क के ब्रूकलिन में कोनी द्वीप के पास इन झूलों को लगाया गया था। इसका नाम था – switchback railway जो 6 मील प्रति घंटे की रफ्तार से दौड़ती थी।
