The World Bank is the world’s largest multilateral development agency. The World Bank is the only agency that provides loans while other UN agencies generally provide grants.
Today in 1945, The World Bank was created with the signing of an agreement by 28 nations, to provide long-term assistance for economic development of developing countries.
The World Bank makes two types of loans: those for projects ranging from infrastructure, agriculture and industrial development, and health and educational services, and others for reform of economic policies, or “structural adjustment.”

28 देशों ने मिलकर आज विश्व बैंक की स्थापना की थी। विश्व बैंक को बनाने का मकसद विकासशील देशों को उनके विकास के लिए ज़रूरी पूंजी मुहैया कराना था। विश्व बैंक ऋण देने वाली एक ऐसी संस्था है जिसका मकसद विभिन्न देशों की अर्थ व्यवस्थाओं को एक व्यापक विश्व अर्थ व्यवस्था में शामिल करना और विकासशील देशों में ग़रीबी उन्मूलन के प्रयास करना है.विश्व बैंक नीति सुधार कार्यक्रमों और परियोजनाओं के लिए ऋण देता है।
