He was a renowned scholar at the age of 17. He traveled to the Indian subcontinent and authored “Kitab Tarikh Al-Hind” (History of India) after exploring the Hindu faith practised in India. No doubt, He is a man of substance.

By age 17 he was already a renowned scholar. 
A Moslem astronomer, mathematician, physicist, geographer, chronologist and historian… He was Abu Rayhan al-Biruni. He died today in 1048. He was the most acute interpreter of India to Islam in the Middle Ages. Al-Biruni was born near Kath in Khwarizm (now a part of Uzbekistan) on Sept. 4, 973.
In 1017 he traveled to the Indian subcontinent and authored “Kitab Tarikh Al-Hind” (History of India) after exploring the Hindu faith practised in India. He is given the titles the “founder of Indology”. He was an impartial writer on custom and creeds of various nations. Most of the works of Al-Biruni are in Arabic.

मशहूर इतिहासकार अल बिरूनी का निधन आज सन 1048 में हुआ था। अल बिरूनी ने वर्ष 1017 में भारत का दौरा किया था और बाद में भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप पर आधारित एक किताब लिखी थी। इस किताब का नाम था तारीख़-अल-हिंद। इस किताब के अलावा उन्होंने 145 किताबें और लिखीं। अल बिरूनी संस्कृत, यूनानी, हिब्रू और फारसी सहित कई भाषाएं बोलना जानते थे और उन्हें Physics, Mathematics, Geography, astrology, इतिहास और धार्मिक साहित्य के बारे में भी अच्छा ख़ासा ज्ञान था।
