India got one of the most beautiful north eastern state today in 1963. Nagaland was India’s 16th state. Kohima was declared its capital.

Till this time Nagaland was a part of Assam since independence. Finally Naga People Convention leaders had a 16-point agreement with the Jawahar lal Nehru government leading to creation of Nagaland.

Nagaland is known for its 17 major tribes which are unique in character. Nagaland is called as Land of Festivals. Each tribe have their own specific festivals and they celebrate it with full zest and zeal.

1963 में आज उत्तर पूर्वी राज्य Nagaland भारत का सोलहवां राज्य बन गया था। इसी के साथ Kohima को Nagaland की राजधानी घोषित किया गया था। 1947 में आज़ादी के बाद नागालैंड Assam का हिस्सा बनकर रहा। जुलाई 1960 में तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू और Naga People Convention के नेताओं के बीच 16-point agreement पर सहमति हुई। जिसके तहत Nagaland को भारत का राज्य घोषित किया गया।
