Travelling in metro is such a relief. Being a Delhiite I enjoy the ride every now and then. Metro in Delhi is not too old but if you compare it to New York, we are almost 90 years behind.
Opened in 1904, New York metro line also called as New York City Subway is one of the world’s oldest, longest and busiest public transit systems. It is also with most stations (469 stations in operation) and the most trackage. It offers service 24 hours per day and every day of the year.
It’s a crime to put feet on the seat of the metro in. New York. Cops can even arrest you for this.
Tokens were used until 2003, after that they were officially invalid after 50 years of use.
Metro cards were prevalent till 2003 and were used after tokens went obsolete.
